Raising children and career building can go hand in hand!
“Share to Win” —a culture where employees collaborate across teams

H. Uchida
I joined en world in 2021 from different industry. Recruiting consultants have helped me through life events and transitions such as raising children and being stationed overseas. As a senior consultant, I leverage my personal experiences in supporting job seekers and train team members.
- What are your current duties?
I am a senior consultant with the Technology & Consulting team, in charge of supporting people find jobs in foreign IT vendors and consulting firms. More specifically, I introduce UI/UX designers, IT financial consultants, and strategic consultants who are seeking work to companies.
There is influx of human resources in this industry and demands fluctuate drastically, so it requires me to stay updated with information and move quickly. I had experience in corporate sales, especially overseas sales from my previous job, but dealing with the complexity of matching people and companies in addition to skills, was a new challenge for me. My role is to gain a depth of understanding of both the job seekers and the companies by gathering information and ensuring quick response to achieve the most suitable match.
- When and why did you join en world?
I joined en world in May 2021. Previously, I was in charge of sales of overseas inbound travelers at an online travel reservation service company, but the impact of the coronavirus caused travel demands to plummet. I was looking a new job when my former colleague introduced me to en world, and that is how I started considering applying for en world.
During the selection process, en world’s philosophy, “Join, then thrive” resonated deeply with me. In my own personal experience, recruiting consultants have helped me through transitions in life including raising children and being stationed overseas. I was drawn to how the job provided the opportunity to work closely with people and their lives, and decided to join the company.

- How do you balance your work life and raising children?
Currently, I am working while raising two children, one in the second grade and the other in forth. I had somewhat of a doubt before joining the company, but after having the opportunity to speak with a senior employee who was balancing work life and raising children during a casual interview, I was able to hear specifically how a work day went, and that made me feel confident to balance the two.
My actual work day is set up in a way that a few hours are set aside in the morning and the evening for my children, while taking care of work using my smartphone or tablet. I try to be creative so that I can balance my work and raising children. Finding the right balance is different for each person, but I can say that en world provides an environment that embraces versatile work styles.
- Tell us about the work environment at enworld.
en world allows employees to manage their own remote and in-office schedule. There is a comprehensive system in place with a monthly full-flex system, and that enables me to handle unexpected situations like my children getting sick. There is also a babysitter subsidy program available, and it’s reassuring to know that it’s there when I need it.
There is also a working parents community in the company called, “Moms and Dads”. There’s time set aside regularly for parents to connect and share information which is great support. Knowing that you have people you can to talk to when you have a problem is very comforting.

- What is engaging about working at en world?
I can think of many reasons why I would encourage people to consider a career at en world, but primarily because it is gratifying to be present in momentous and transitional moments in people’s lives, empathize with them, and assist them in making very important life decisions.
And second, because of en world’s fascinating company culture. Specifically, the concept of “Join, then thrive” is deeply rooted and embraced across the company, encouraging employees to succeed. “Share to Win” is another excellent concept where information and know-hows are shared across departments. This environment, in which employees work together beyond divisions or roles, not only raises the quality of work but also facilitates individual growth tremendously.
Another reason is achieving work-life balance. There are programs in place that help employees continue working while raising children or other personal life matters with people’s understandings.
I am confident to say to people who are looking to further enhance their careers, or others who value work-life balance, that en world has a great work environment.
- What do you find rewarding about your job and what’s next for you?
I find it very rewarding to be able to be present at life-changing moments of people that I assist. Being involved in a significant time of change for both the job seeker and the company that is hiring is truly fascinating to me. Also, it’s very interesting to keep up with new trends in the industry while seeing corporate growth strategies, development of new businesses and observing how businesses transition at a close distance.
In terms of future prospects, I would like to be involved in team management. I would like to apply what I’ve gained in my career and my experiences raising children to supporting and nurturing my team members. It would mean a lot to me if other team members appreciate and experience the significance of this job that I feel myself.
And about my career path, I will utilize my experience as a mother to achieve results and continue to advance my career, and hopefully that will become a pathway for someone to follow. I hope I can be of help, especially for those who are looking to build a career while raising children.
- Lastly, what does en world mean to you.
For me, en world mission – “enabling success” , this is not just a concept, but a value that is embraced and demonstrated by all employees.
I realized through my job, that my experience could act as a signpost for others. My efforts to raise children while continuing to work may encourage others, and that thought drives me forward. en world is a place for me to grow and be fulfilled. At the same time, it is a wonderful environment where I can inspire someone else’s success. I will continue to build my career with “Join, then thrive” in mind, and support many others succeed.
