Meet our Employees
Having a positive mindset leads to enjoying growing.
Yoosun Jang
I joined en world as a new graduate in 2017 and was promoted to team manager in 2022. I have won several company awards as a member of the Contract Professionals Financial Division, which introduces agency and contract workers. Along with my activities as one of the team, I strive for teambuilding by sharing experiences from my own development with the other members.
- What are your current duties?
I currently have two main responsibilities.
Firstly, as the manager of the Contract Professionals team, I lead the team members by creating an environment in which they can grow, and implement training. I also provide encouragement and advice so that the team as a whole can achieve our targets.
My second role is as a consultant. Like the other consultants in the team, I am in charge of everything — contacting and visiting client companies to explain en world’s services, introducing potential job seekers, and right up to the negotiating the final contract. Although I like talking to the client companies about specific projects, what I like most are the discussions where no project is yet involved. When time allows, I can get to know the client companies more deeply, putting me in a great position to convey all the advantages of our services. These conversations mean a lot to me as they let us get to know each other which is key for building trust.
- When job hunting, how did you select a company to work for?
When starting the job-hunting process, I still didn’t clearly know what I wanted to do. I thought the only way to check if I was suitable for a company was to try some of them out, so in the beginning I applied to lots of industries and companies. Then when I was meeting and discussing with people, I realized that the recruiting business was the best fit for me, halfway through the job hunting, I narrowed my focus down to recruitment related companies.
The type of job that appealed to me was one in which I could develop my communication and negotiation skills and where it was possible to see the results with my own eyes while pursuing and taking responsibility for my actions. So, the recruiting business seemed a perfect fit for me.
- Why did you decide to join en world?
It was the initial interview and the interview with the Vice-President that convinced me. On both occasions we had a nice discussion during which I could put forward my strong points and where I felt the interviewers had a genuine interest in me as a person rather than just acting as judges. Also when I heard what they had to say, I felt this was a company that placed great importance on human kindness and teamwork, which I really appreciated.
I had researched the company’s core values such as “integrity” and “teamwork” in advance, so I knew about them when I came to the interviews. When I got the same impression at the interview, I knew I could trust en world as a company that holds such values and is always trying to realize them.
Apart from the people, another big reason was the environment here. The company operates in English and has a high proportion of foreign employees, which I found reassuring as someone who is not a native Japanese speaker. Even after I joined the company, I thought, “There is no better environment than this. From now on it’s all up to you”, so I think I made the right choice.
- What obstacles have you overcome since joining the company?
Since I just graduated from college, I was worried at first about how much faith the job seekers would have in me. However, the company had decided to hire me because they thought I was capable of doing such work, so I thought that such worries were just my own feelings. Therefore, my first major goal after joining the company was to leave such negative thoughts behind and shift to a more positive mindset.
In reality my work as a consultant involved discussions with highly experienced job seekers and company executives, but everyone was kind, and I could always learn a lot from them. This helped to alleviate the pressure of being a consultant—the one who should be offering information and services— that I had previously felt. By learning about the careers of the job seekers, conveying their stories to client companies, and enjoying the discussion, I tried to change my mindset. As soon as I managed to change my thinking, and myself, the work became hugely enjoyable.
- Did you want to go into management?
To be honest, I never thought I could become as good a consultant as my seniors. I thought the positions of Senior Consultant and Manager were far away and could never have imagined the situation I am in today.
From around my 4th year here, I started to think, “Let’s stop always worrying if you don’t reach the highest possible standard. Just continue to work and make the most of the happy things and the mistakes.” I stopped over focusing on only the achievements and results and became calm as I started to enjoy the things I was doing each day and the things learnt from them. As a result, I was selected for the “Most Improved Sales” award and, influenced by my success, our team was recognized as “Team Of The Year.”
Our team at that time was the one formed when I had entered as a new graduate, and to which I had belonged ever since. For sure there were times when we didn’t produce any results. However, when I saw us being recognized by the whole company, and knowing I had contributed to the award, I felt the job had been worth doing.
- Do you have any goals for the future?
As a manager, my immediate goal is to create a stable team that generates consistent results. I would like to pass on not only what I have received from my seniors but add my own growth to it, so that my juniors receive more than what I received during my own development.
I feel happy when I see my team members growing and becoming more confident in their daily work. If I am the only one getting results, then something is wrong. So the happiest situation of all is when everyone produces results together. I think this is what allows me to play my role as a leader without holding anyone back.
I hope that everyone on my team will achieve even more success in the future than the awards and experiences I have received. And, I want to support them so that they feel that being at en world means a lot to them.
- What does en world mean to you?
en world is like my home and family. I started my career here and I spend half my days with my fun colleagues. I do also like working at home but if I have to choose I prefer to work at the office together with my colleagues.
On holidays, we enjoy activities like snowboarding and skiing, and also go out for meals or have barbecues together. Sometimes I feel homesick for my own country but since I started working here I enjoy every day whether it is a working day or a holiday.
- Finally, do you have any advice for those looking for a job?
I hope you will not be afraid to encounter difficult situations, not only during your job hunting but also after you join a company. If you base your job search on difficulty, I think your growth will be limited, so please try to find a company where you can grow while having fun, even if it is hard for you.
If it’s possible, don’t narrow down your choices to only those companies that fit your initial image of perfection. Instead, attend various company events and interviews to get to know their business. Sometimes you will feel that a company is not right for you, and other times you will be rejected. However, if you choose a company after experiencing several others, you will probably find your work more satisfying. Instead of worrying about all sorts of things, I think it’s better to try everything out first.
